Vortens brand toilets that have been installed in many homes built year 2011 and up are cracking and causing water damage more than any product I've seen in the plumbing industry. There are four particular models that will randomly crack open on the tank and sometimes even on the bowl. Most common toilets have a float valve design which will indicate that the water level has dropped and it begins to refill. If the tank is compromised that can cause the water to refill for hours or even days if no-one is home to catch the leak.
